Hamlet of medieval origins, it had a demographic growth towards the end of the 19th century, due to the discovery of a large pyrite mine. Like in any mining village we can find there a church, the manager’s villa, the employees houses on the mountain side of the road and further down the humbler miners’ houses. In 1943, a large number of miners lost their lives while trying to defend the mine from the retreating German troops.
